Much has been said about the no-knot t/p...how to tie and remove sharp edges.
They are great, but I have switched to the Kershner/Waverly reproduction. The Kirshner has the slotted pegs to tie if you want using the no-knot loop cinch. The biggest single reason is the down force that the t/p can put on the strings. I once owned 2 identical Gold Tone OT800 long neck banjos. One had the Kirshner, one a no-knot. The Kirshner equiped banjo was way louder with much more sustain.
If you are seeking more volume from your nylon string banjo, you might try this.
