I use Nylgut on my Ramsey Chanterelle Special frestless (an Appamatox-made banjo). Bought 'em this summer. They took one full day to "stretch in", but have held fine since. I tied little bowline knots to make loops for the "No Knot" tailpiece studs. To get volume out of this banjo for "classical", minstrel or old time playing, you need a good firm purchase on these strings, so with advice from the BHO I got a 5 legged TALL "minstrel" bridge, which works GREAT!
Very satisfied with the Nylgut. I had used one set of plain nylon strings YEARS ago on an old Luscomb, but didn't really know what I was doing then, action was far too low.
