Struggle

From RB4picker on 8/30/2015 8:32:46 AM

My wife and I sold our house of 28 years at the end of July. We listed it with our agent on a Monday night and got an offer that Thursday. We signed the contract the next day. WOW! Talking about things moving fast. We thought we would have a few months to slowly get things into order.

We have a cabin/mobile home on Shoals Creek and plan on building a house. We moved everything ourself, over the next month, into two storage units and to the cabin.

This is really cutting into my practice time, some days getting only about 20 minutes a day. But so far I haven't missed a day. Things are settling down a little now so I'm getting back to "normal".

Now we're dealing with the local authorities on flood elevations, engineers, electricity departments and permits to build near a floodway. Bout have the kinks out and hope to break ground soon. So I will still be under the gun for a time yet but in the end it will be great. It's a beautiful lot on the water and very conducive to bluegrass music and the banjo.

David

Good luck on the move and the build.
Sounds like a great place to do some pickin and fishin.

Thanks casinojack. You have my plans nailed. Spending time with my wife, fishing, picking, gardening and just maybe building a banjo or two. I am nearing retirement and lining up my hobbies.

Sounds like a plan to me.

The 3 B's - banjos, boats, and bass fishin.

You got it right again Jack. The three B's. We had family down for the 4th weekend. Very avid fishermen. They caught about 25 - 1 1/2 to 2 lb. catfish from Friday night til Sunday morning. Cleaned and deep fried them Sunday morning with some good homemade hush puppies. Uhmmm uhmmm.

Fast forward little over a year since this post. We have the house finished, save the concrete drive, staining cedar trim and handrails and landscaping, all depending on weather now. But we're in it, had Christmas in it and are loving it.

Starting to pick up the banjo pieces now. Amazing how quickly little things escape you. But I'm slowly getting organized and set up to play and record some stuff soon.
