Sixth Go...!! - David M

A good turn out last night, luckily my nerves and shakes now appear to be under control and not materializing too bad.

I seem to be one of the last each half to go up due to the same position I sit at the back of the bar, but that's good, gives me plenty of time to play along with the others for an hour or so.

I went up with the idea of a quickish tune followed by a Charlie Poole song each half, so I sung myself through Roll In My Sweet Babies Arms with the audience helping out the chorus, all went ok thankfully and no word stumbles..

Next I sung along to the Charlie Poole classic Bill Mason and was thankfully warmly appreciated. I seemed extra quiet last night as so many others were really belting out the classics, but a little light sound relief and variation is a good thing...right..?

I was saved my second medley of Boil Dat Cabbage Down and Charlie Poole's Gypsy Girl as time was called before my turn so maybe next time..

I'm happy to be well down the order in terms of playing and ability during the evening, less is expected that way..!

	David M says: 5/6/2011 2:21:08 AM Ummm...there was some talent on offer that night David who play most of the county bars or in groups and they were like pros, their volume is part of the performance appeal as well, pity they don't supply a mic there as I might come across a bit better. I really don't want to put the picks back on, but public playing is just too quiet with pick or nail and my voice has to match the banjo volume also. I'm in the process of ordering a hardwood plate to attach to the back of my Gold Tone MC150 as a makeshift resonator, see how that goes...
