I just need to tell someone who might care and share in my entheusiam.

I bought a new Tupelo about two weeks ago and am totally loving it. I don't see how it could be improved upon in any way. Gradually, it's sounding better and better to my ear. Actually, to state that more accurately, I'm starting to sound better and better on it, but still have a long way to go. It is, frankly, a much better banjo than I am as a player! What the heck, enjoying the journey is just as important as reaching the goal.

	AlpacaLips says: 4/2/2014 9:58:23 AM I suspect it's probably both--the banjo is sounding better as the parts settle in and get cushy with each other, AND you're getting better faster because the high quality instrument may play easier and be more enjoyable to play. That was my experience when I upgraded from a Gold Tone WL250 to an Ome Flora.

Remember, chopsticks sounds better on a Steinway than on a toy piano! Enjoy and love your OME! It will love you back, bigtime! And congratulations. :-)
	BrittDLD1 says: 4/2/2014 11:38:45 AM Just the other night, at a jam, one of the long-time jam members was heading home, but he stopped and asked me what kind of tonering my OME Columbine had. (It's based on the 1930s "B&D Silver Bell" tonering.) He plays guitar mostly, but does have a couple banjos... He was enjoying the sound I was getting out of it. (And so do I!)

I agree with AlpacaLips that it's a combination of the instrument itself and the fact that it's so enjoyable to play that I play more than ever. My two other main players are a Bart Reiter Whyte Laydie and a Cedar Mountain fretless, plenty decent banjos in their own right, but the Ome is on another level and is taking my playing to another level, too. Looking forward to warmer weather because I think warm weather always brings out the best in banjo sound. So the best is yet to come!

	StringsAttached says: 4/3/2014 5:11:45 AM Thanks all for your kind words of encouragement. No doubt, a quality instrument can bring out the best in a player as well as inspire and motivate him/her. I find that once you exceed the $500 (or so) price point, you have to spend significantly more to get an incremental improvement in quality and tone. But, in the long run the extra investment is well worth it.

Do you have a favorite brand or are you sticking with the OME chenille set? Out of curiosity, how high are the strings at the 12th fret? Mine seems a tad high, at 5/32", but I don't know what is normal for a banjo. I am also seeking an armrest that would fit the style of this banjo. Any suggestions on a source?
