Truss rod adjust

From PeterJ on 8/23/2021 6:42:56 AM

Hey, fellow OME-ites-- my Triple X's neck is perfectly flat. There isn't a back bow, and I am not getting any buzzing, but I like a tiny bit of relief for playability. Since the truss rod is adjusted from the heel, obviously I need to unstring and remove the neck.

Question is, how do I know I've put just the right amount of relief in? On a peghead-adjusted instrument, it's easy to check every little turn of the rod, especially since stribg tension plays a role. Do I need to keep attaching and detaching the neck, or is there a trick to this? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

That's just it, your guessing so if you have to do it just do it in very small increments, turning clockwise takes the bow out, counter clockwise puts a bow or relief in the neck and is what you want to do just turn the rod in very small maybe less than a quarter turn and put it back on and see if you gauged it right, it's the only way you can do it, trial and error, you can do it .

Thanks, @saltcreek. I figured that’s what it would take, but was hoping there was a trick to try. Appreciate the quick response.

Truss Rod on top of the Neck (Headstock) make the job so much easier. You're going to have to hope you do it right the first time. Good luck.
