What are you working on?

This is a diverse group here, but I thought a topic of "What We Are Working On" might shed some light upon our various approaches to early banjo. Maybe even share a tab or video of a project.

Tim - As a practical matter for my work, I've been performing period anti-slavery sheet music, things like "Slavery is a Hard Foe to Battle" (tune of Richmond is a Hard Road to Travel). "North Star" (tune of O Susanna) and "Run, N-----, Run" as transcripted in Slave Songs 1867 (for obvious reasons I play it as "Run, Brother, Run").

Terry finally sent me a replacement tension hoop for my Bell banjo so it's stressed better. I've actually been able to play clear notes without picks, just my wimpy minimal fingernails, something I developed per your experience with it. I didn't think it could work, but found that a slightly more aggressive strike and angle is all it takes to play loud and clearly enough, though I keep the picks in reserve until I totally trust this for longer performances.

I suppose I should post a vid for the sake of other living history types to mull over...
