Case/Gig bag for Menzies banjo?

From laertes22 on 8/23/2012 9:07:19 PM

I have a Menzies Tackhead and a Menzies Gourd banjo.  They are both 26inch scale.  The tackhead is a 13inch, and I believe the gourd is 9 or 10 inches.  I need something to keep them in when I'm not playing them.  I assume it would be pretty hard to get a case to fit them, and I don't have the necessary skills to make a case, so I am thinking something like a soft case/gig bag.

Any ideas of a specific gigbag/soft case that would work for each of these?

Gator's all-foam FitsAll should work well for the tackhead. You might have do a little carving on the inside, but that's fairly easy. Just take your time. Patch up the "wounds" with fuzzy fabric you can get at a good fabric store.

Gator's all-foam FitsAll should work well for the tackhead. You might have do a little carving on the neck support inside, but that's fairly easy. Just take it slow and remove a little at time. Patch up the "wounds" with fuzzy fabric you can get at a good fabric store. You may also have to excavate a hole in the fat end of the case for the rim stick extension fit in. That 's easy, too.

I've modified two of the Gator cases, and they work great -- one for my Bell Boucher, one for my Prust. Both have 13" inch rims.

I had to have custom case made for my gourd -- but it is a very large gourd. You might try taking it to guitar store and try out some acoustic guitar gig bags
