I have been playing tunes from the Ethiopian Glee Book and looking at Rice / Briggs'. Cool to see the approach these 2 banjo books take to the popular songs of the Minstrel days. The Rice ones are quirky in particular, with their lines that often follow the melody, and then drop away by small intervals....then have those fast triplet bursts. Check out Jenny etc. in that book. I just posted Picayune Butler, and while not able to sing it with the written accompaniment, it proved to be an interesting solo piece.
