There is an open bluerass jam at the Lowel county youth fair grounds every 3rd Saturday put on by the West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association. The jam is following a monthly meeting. All welcome.

It's not a regular jam and there is a cost, but there's a "Jam Camp" next week in GR. It's something that Pete Wernick puts together and the local teacher is Maggie Bilby. If you're interested, I can get you more information.

I'd be happy to pick. I live about 10 mi West of GR. I've played several instruments in MI bands over the years and sing and would be happy to help you get used to picking with others.
You can email me if interested.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Is this camp in GR only for scruggs style pickers? I am learning clawhammer and need in person motivation. I live in GR and hate to miss this if there is someone doing clawhammer.

Wait, I checked out the link and under FAQ i see that clawhammer is not ignored but not exactly encouraged. Oh well, ill just go back to being shunned!!! hahahaha

keithgill, I think we can all get along! Shucks, sometimes my Scruggs style playing probably sounds like clawhammer. Even as I type this, I feel as though I'm disrespecting Earl by calling what I do by his name! lol
