Any banjo teachers in N. East MI. for an older beginner?  Any beginners looking to start a group to learn with? Thanks

How far north and how far east? There might be some jams or groups out there, but it depends on where exactly you mean.

I am in Lewiston, MI between Gaylord and Alpena.

I'm in Boyne Falls/Petoskey. But there is a local teacher that goes to Gaylord once a week. If you're interested, I'll get you her contact info.

You might look up "dhavlena" in Cheboygan or "iceburg" in Grayling. They might be able to help you.

Oow, you're both just out of reach; I'm slightly S.W. of Tragic City, in the little village of Lake Ann.
Otherwise, I'm older than neophite and younger than accomplished. I could learn something new every day, if I had the time.

Lloyd Douglas is in Alpena. I have not talked to him in years but he still lives there and is an excellent banjo picker. Not sure if he teaches or not. This is all I could find on them:

I was taking lessons in Grayling at Dharma Music for a while, but has stopped for now. My instructor, Angela Wideman, from Mio, is a pretty good teacher. She also teaches in Mio. Contact Dharma Music if you are interested.
I believe the Music Haus in Gaylord also offers lessons.
