Grand Rapids area old time / beginners group?

From kc8tby on 3/15/2011 6:22:56 AM

There seems to be at least a few of the (Western) Michigan memebers on this site who might be interested in forming some sort of "old timers" jam group.  I , for one, would be very interested in helping to form such a group BUT, as I mentioned before, I am a true beginner.  Read that to mean that I can barely strum the "bum-ditty" !

I think, however, that it might be fun and instructive if a few of us clawhammer style folks here in the GR area were able to meet together and to help each other out?

Just a thought....?

OK....what do you think?

Email me or feel free to post some responses (and suggestions) as to places to meet, times, etc.

Take care!

Tom

My living room and back porch are available almost any time. Schulers Books (on the NW and SE sides of Grand Rabbits) has concert spaces that might be available if we promise to scarf down lots of coffee and baked goods.

Sounds great to me...hopefully we'll get a few more folks interested as well?
I'll be out of town until the end of April so whatever we get arranged I should be able to join the rest of the group at that time!
Thanks for the response and lets keep our fingers crossed that we can scare up a few more intersted Grand Rapids area folks!

I am also very new as in just learning the strum pattern out of Dan Levenson book but I think it would be fun to hang out every now and then and try to learn from each other or others that would show up and be patient and willing to show tricks and practice techniques for the beginner. I have 2 1/2 acres in Greenville with a fire pit that we could use. I would be available on Fridays through Mondays.

Yea Update I can Play the simple version of Spotted Pony... Now on to the drop thumb version. Has this group thing gone anywhere?
