This group is meant for any pickers out there who still still like the metal thumb pick. The feel, the sound, the traditional look of an old style metal thumb pick is something that the latest technology can not replace. It is kind of like the traditional banjo player who still prefers a skin head with all of its drawbacks to the latest design and synthetic material.

New styles incorporate the metal band into the design but have a synthetic blade attached. The sound might be great but the style is not quite the same. The appearance, the need to be shaped to the thumb, the way it slips in hot weather when the thumb gets sweaty, is all part of the tradition of banjo playing. Tradition still wins out over technology for some people.

Did Earl Scruggs, Don Reno, or Snuffy Jenkins have plastic thumb picks available when they started playing? They certainly did not have plastic heads. Whether you prefer a Geipel, a Dr. Sherpa, a rolled edge Dunlop, or an old National, whether you use all of your thumb picks or collect old ones, if you like the metal thumb pick, you are welcome here.

	Hankon5 says: 8/22/2013 6:12:55 PM The rolled Dunlops create the most tonal balance with my 11'a on 1st and 5th. Tried many but only the Dunlops give me that comfort and bring out the melody the best(for me) IMHO.
