Haha! I live in Denham Springs, just moved out here a year ago. I have never played a banjo before. I ordered one a week ago and actually hope to get it in tomorrow. Ive been thinking of getting one for a while now. Ive always loved banjos and finally decided to pull the trigger. Ive already done a ton of research on and have been finger picking one of my guitars for a while now just trying to get used to the motions, even though i know it will be completely different on an actual banjo. Ive played drums for over 20 years and guitar and bass for over ten so i figured it should give me a tiny bit to start with. ? And i havent decided on starting with scrugs style or clawhammer. I love the sound of both, so i guess ill just figure it out when i get my hands on the thing. And thanks for the welcome!

Just a quick update for anyone that cares. My banjo came in today. Fender FB-54. Seems very nice for a starter banjo. Ive only gotten to play around on it for two or three hours but i love it! The bottom four strings seem to sit really high, but i guess thats how its supposed to be because of the bridge(which i made sure it was measured out to the correct distance from the twelfth fret). ? Anyways, my first day as a "banjo player"(ha ha)was a blast!

i dont know a lot but will help you with what i know
i just put on a new bridge today my first..if you have a tuner, check and see if the notes are true when freted at the 12th fret. if they are not you might have to move the bridge a little

Welcome, Jedi, and good luck on your banjo journey! I played strictly bluegrass for many years, but lately I've been learning some stroke style, menstral banjo and playing on an open back fretless! Banjo never gets boring! Thank you for joining our group!
