Banjo jam 8/7

From Ken_in_IN on 8/8/2011 6:28:17 PM

Thanks again Tom for arranging this!  I wish I'd felt better - heading to the doc tomorrow morning.

Looking forward to more, and actually remembering something to play :-)

Ken

Hey Ken:
Here's hoping you get better. We will do another one; I hesitate to schedule them too closely, though. Late Oct might be a good date for another one. I could use some suggestions as to what you guys would like to see done and discussed at these meetings, too. We all want to learn more about this great hobby.

Sounds good to me. Ken

Late October sounds like a good span for the next one. I may not play very well, but sure enjoy hearing you and the other guys :-) Having a mando player there was great also!

The 21/22 I will be in Nashville .
Just came in from picking on the porch and wish I do that good around other banjo pickers.

I feel the same way at lesson - I should make a tape for my instructor...brain fade every Saturday morning when I sit down with him!

Yeah, it's very different playing by yourself, or picking around other people. The nerves can get a little more active!
One of my practice techniques is to play a tune I know well, but slowly and as softly as I can. I discovered that to build speed, try to pick at a moderate to low volume. It can really reduce your mistakes.
