Sassafras- Help Name This Type of Helix.

From Helix on 11/21/2015 6:17:33 AM

Sarsaparilla, that's the real name.  I have enough to make a couple of rims.

So...................................wouldn't you like to help name a type of Helix rim??

What should we call the Sassafras rims??  Think now, use your noggin stockings on your head.  You've been very good this year.  (  ))==='== ::}

From my 10 second wikipedia search: " name "sassafras", applied by the botanist Nicolas Monardes in 1569, comes from the French sassafras. Some sources claim it originates from the Latin saxifraga or saxifragus: "stone-breaking;" saxum "rock" + frangere "to break")."

Sooo.. Stone Breaker? Might be a good start. Someone more well versed in Latin may have a little more insight.

There's a Tasmanian wood called black heart sassafras (not really a sassafras btw). How about calling the rims Sassafras Blackheart?

Sounds like we're getting into heavy metal territory here

Tossed this around a bit, and I keep coming back to Sasparilla Blackheart Stonebreaker or sasparilla Stoneheart. Thoughts?

Sorry, meant to write Sassafras, not sasparilla.

Some side votes for just Sassafras, with Stoneheart in 2nd place, These trees are from Ohio, any regional thoughts?
