I HAVE A 2010 GOLDSTAR GF-200 " LIMITED EDITION BOWTIE." IT SOUNDS AND PLAYS REALLY SMOOTH AND I ENJOY PICKING IT. IT IS A BIT HEAVIER THAN I'D LIKE, BUT THE TONE IS SOLID! THANKS FOR SETTING UP THIS SITE!

Staytuned, the heaver it is the better it sounds!! I've been told buy a good picker with a Bluegrass group called Caddo Creek, that my GF85 sounds as good to him as the RB250 Mastertone. And your Banjo is two notches above mine. I think you have a real quality built Banjo!! Thank you so much for joining my group.

I am playing a 1981 HF-100 Goldstar, which is simular to Tom Adams 81' model GF-100w. I have enjoyed this banjo emmensley for the last 26 years that I have owned it. Rescently my 11 year old daughter knocked it out of the stand and broke the peg head off the neck, but didnt damage the finger board. Sadly it couldnt be fixed, but I turned a bad situation into a good thing.A friend of mine Clancy Mullins in Johnson
City,Tn built me a new speed neck using my old finger board and old overlay with the Goldstar name on it. To look at it you cant tell the difference till you play it.The neck is about the same thickness as a pre-war RB-75 Mastertone. The back of the neck is not finished just stained with wax rubbed in. Only the back of the Peghead and the heel block have laqour applied to it.

First of all, welcome to the group Tim! What a banjo you have there! I enjoyed reading your comment and glad you were able to get it fixed.
