I just acquired a 1930 TB-1 conversion! Four screw. Hardware and resonator are very clean. And sound? Well if you've played a great conversation, you know!!

I've been searching for one I could afford since I first heard Ron Stewart's in the 2002. Some folks dream a prewar flathead, not me! Who wants that stress! I've played several great flatheads and honestly I think this particular one about as close as it comes. The guy I bought it off of has an original flathead, original five and he agrees.

Now I have a great banjo that sounds old and mature for not much more than a new Huber, Yates, Stelling etc.

	orioletb1 says: 4/15/2015 10:44:14 PM I don't care how close the new builders come, they can't make anything sound 75-85 years old. The properties of the wood and metal change over decades. There is no way to duplicate that! I know the market is down but these non-Mastertone conversions are the best buy in the 4-6k range. If you're on the fence about the non-original parts (neck, ect),just remember Earl's and Sonny's Granadas haven't had their original necks in many years and JD's Banjer didn't even have a neck when he found it. How many times was Earl's hardware replated? Ron Stewart played a TB-1 conversion most of his career.

	flynbanjo says: 5/15/2015 6:39:50 PM I too have a model 1 conversion. It had a Huber Vintage when I got it. I also tried a Huber HR-30 on it which, was a noticeable improvement. About a year ago I put on a Sloan ring and wow! I've not heard too many banjo that sound better. Good luck, and happy pickin'
