got my TB-3 converted with a New Neck by Wyatt Fawley

From moparcolt on 5/23/2012 4:52:02 AM

I have had this 29 TB-3 for about a year now and have finally got it converted to a 5 string.

I was lucky to have Wyatt Fawley build a new neck for it, I had contacted several builders about a neck, but when Wyatt said he had time to do one for me, I jumped at the opportunity!!

I had been wanting to have him build one for me for a while so when he said OK I was really excited. The quality of his necks is second to none! He cuts every bit of pearl inlay by hand, one at a time! All the wood is hand selected, and the detail is superb! He also uses a different finish than almost everyone. It is a catalyzed finish, which is very durable and wont oxidize or become sticky if you play out in the heat!

I was lucky enough to spend the day at Wyatt's house watching him finish it up, hand carve the mastertone block, attach it to the banjo and get it all set up. It was a great experience!

He is going to be stocking all styles of Gibson Conversion necks soon, so if you are in the market I would really check into getting a neck from him, it will be well worth it

Check out all the pictures of mine on my home page in the album marked 29 TB-3

Beautiful neck! But, hey, why didn't you keep that cool pickguard on it??

The pick guard was real close to the strings on the tenor, when we put the 5string neck on it there want enough room for it. I still have it, I could always modify it to work but it kind of gets in the way.
