Hey, I feel you man. I jumped on board the sight about a month ago and haven't found much contact myself. I live in Decatur, picked up a 5-string back in January and have been plugging...I mean plunking away since. I'm definitely in people seeking/picking gathering mode, and have good proximity to different opportunities, it's just difficult to find someone who can/will tutor you on the spot or a group that'll jam out to eight rounds of "Boil Them Cabbage Down". All that to say

Good to see someone still looks on here, check in from time to time. At least we two can talk banjo, I'm pretty new about three weeks pickin.

Well, until I looked at curman's profile I didn't even know about groupls. I asked for the site to update when stuff happens, so maybe I'll know what's going on in Georgia - with the two of you, at least! I've only been playing since Christmas. Likek you, I can get through a couple of versions of "Boil Them Cabbage Down," but I haven't worked up the courage to show up at a jam with that huge repretoire under my belt! LOL!

I went to a bluegrass festival down here last month wit a buddy who plays guitar. He talked me into bringing my banjo, which was cool until the fella leading the jam said go ahead.play us one banjo man. I just about crapped my pants, then I explained that I was just starting and wasn't ready yet. That just made me want to work harder so next time I can say ok and get down.

Now THAT's funny. You're a better man than I am - I wouldn't go anywhere NEAR that guy next time!

Southeastern Bluegrass Association (SEBA) has a concert and jam here in Fayetteville on the third Sunday of every month. I think I'm going over this month and check it out - without my banjo, though. I'd like to get a feel for what goes on. I'm not sure I'm ready for someone to say "play us one banjo man."

Yessir but there is nothing wrong with a road trip now and then. Especially when it comes to banjos and bluegrass. Tree my dog!!

I find my self stuck, I play cripple creek pretty good and I'm starting to kinda make stuff up but I think if I could get with some folks and jam I could learn quicker.
