Just received a Matthew purchased from ebay this week. I really didn't need another project but this one needed rescue. 10 inch engraved pot. 24 inch scale. Soho Hill Medallion. Unusual inlay and tailpiece for Matthew but I think original. No serial number just GPM stamp. A previous owner didn't understand the tunnel system and ran the 5th string down the side of the neck ! I doubt the tuners are original. The neck needs some work but I feel it's worth doing. My guess on the date would be early 1900's.

Keithstephen says: 6/29/2024 4:56:19 AM Hi Steve, yeah I was watching that. Looked like a really nice pot. From the pictures it looked like the neck wasn't original and had come from a zither banjo. Should be an interesting project.
	Stephen John Prior says: 6/29/2024 11:56:24 AM Yep a funny ad description but the neck is original to the banjo although someone had added a sort of L&H Mystic style heel brace.
	Pomeroy says: 6/30/2024 8:56:04 AM Do we have a firm date for Matthew moving to the Soho Hill works? My similar 7-string has the 'G.P. Matthew, Maker, Birmingham' medallion. Maybe another marker to help pin down more precise dates for manufacture?
