Well, I am officially back in the Fender banjo ownership club. Had a little bump- in- the- road with the purchase, but things got worked out with the seller (I had a thread on the forum the past few days)
Anyway, it is an Artist arch top 5- string; no serial number/ label anymore. Scott Zimmerman is going to help date it by the names on the heel, so that's my job this weekend to disassemble and photograph this banjo. And I have to tell you, despite the looks, etc. it sure has a sweet tone- almost like a flat head. Not as bright as an arch top Fender I had played in the past. It has the typical slim fast neck that us Fender owners have come to love.
I am exploring a couple of options on how to deal with the neck issue, but I have time to figure that out. In the mean time I am going to pick the fire out of that arch top!
More to follow.................
