Hi all,

I'm a newby from The Netherlands.

Played guitar and bass for 30 years so it's time for a new challence. I started pickin' the banjer in spring 2013 and I love it. It's a Goldstar GF100 FE from 2010 . I bought it secondhand last November and although it needs other strings (thinner ones 'cause there are 011's on it) It plays pretty good and sounds great.

There are very few Dutchie's playing Banjo so I'm real happy with BHO where I can get info, help, tabs etc.

Don't know much yet about picks, bridges, tailpieces and all that but I'm learning .I appreciate tips or suggestions.

I can play Doolin' Dalton, Cripple Creek and Foggy Mountan Breakdown but it's still a bit wobbely . I'm also working on Flint Hill Special.

I'm Interessted in tips and tabs etc.

They are very nice...If I can`t find out the first time. I just roll back....and even I have rolled back for tventy times...they still are smiling..

Eerstvolgende event is Wintergrass in Groningen: wintergrass.de/en/home.html Ik speel daar (o.a. banjo) ook. Een GF-100, interessant! Ik heb een paar jaar geleden eens een GF-100 voor iemand afgesteld. .011 kan inderdaad echt niet. Aanrader: GHS PF-135, lekker licht, maar toch voldoende laag. Ik zal me even melden bij Dutch pickers. Als je naar mijn homepage gaat, zie je dat ik weliswaar geen kroontje heb, maar iets koninklijks zit er wel in... ;-) Speel nu alweer meer dan 40 jaar banjo en het gaat inmiddels vrij aardig -luister in my music- dus als je vragen hebt, laat maar weten.

Wow!! zo goed ben ik voorlopig nog niet en als het 40 jaar duurt dan ben ik al te oud (55).. :). Wintergrass/Groningen lijkt me fantastisch maar kan er helaas niet bij zijn:( Ik heb een nieuw vel geplaatst (medium crown) en 2 d-tuners. Ik heb het vel op gehoor en gevoel gespannen en het klinkt niet verkeerd denk ik. (of het beter kan/moet weet ik alleen niet). Ik kreeg hier op HBO een tip om correct te spannen met behulp van een meetlatje en een usa dime. Ik heb alleen geen dime...of drumdial en een dime heeft natuurlijk een heel specifieke maat. Heb jij nog tips? Zodra de snaren er zijn ga ik weer wat opnames proberen te maken en ben ik benieuwd naar je mening. Alvast erg bedankt. Happy picking m8
