My Christmas present to myself arrived on the 19th of December. Not being much of a one for tradtion, I opened it straight away. Wow! I'd sought & seen numerous photos of it on the internet, but it was even more beautiful to behold than its web images. Paul Tebbutt has truly designed a banjo to please the eye. The Shady Grove has a classic old time, open back banjo look. It is also a delight to hold & play. The left hand glides easily up & down the walnut neck. In my humble opinion (speaking as a newbie of almost a year) the sound of it is equal to its looks. This is said even though I don't think I've got it set up to its absolute full potential. I believe banjo players in Europe now have a real choice of an affordable, quality banjo. Banjos Direct in the UK were great to deal with. Paul Tebbutt & Joe Mac were most friendly & more than helpful in replying to my e-mails about Pilgrim Banjos. I can only say, check them out on the net, look at Paul & Joe's YouTube video on the Pilgrim range and let your next banjo be a Pilgrim. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
