RB-75VL

From 3fingers on 1/28/2011 10:01:06 PM

My RB-75VL  s/n is 75-0209-05V.   This is the only one I know of with the V at the end of  the s/n. If anyone has any info on why or others with a letter at the end I would love to hear about them. Ohhh and Mike I really would like to have a rb6 checkerboard one day. Thier my favorite Gibson banjo, looks wise.

Craig, Are you from Coolville or what? I would love to live in a town named Coolville. And I would love to have one of those cool RB-75VLs like yours. They are great banjos from what I hear. I am a little prejudiced for Gibson's with the Crowe rings in them. These banjos seem to have that something extra I look for in tone and response. There are a lot of nuances in tone between the X and Y positions with this tone ring. You can really get some mood changes just by moving your right hand a little bit. The RB-6 is nice but you can get vertigo if you look down at the side of the neck while playing. That Black and White binding can be distracting.

Mike.... yes its true I live in Coolville LOL. I was born right across the West Virginia line in Parkersburg cause its the closest town with a hospital to Coolville. A lot of people ask if there really is a Coolville and yes there is. There is also a community about 5 miles NW of here called Frost. There is also communities in the area called "Shade" and "Snowville" LOL. You are SO right about the tone you can pull from these banjos.
