I'm long overdue joining this group.

I own #141 a Maple Special built in early '96. After dabbling with many other banjos, it is the finest fretted banjo I own in regards to appearance, playability, and sound.  I used it to record my "Drop-Thumb" CD.

Great to have you, R.D.! You're in good company.

This isn't a "chatty" group. I suppose when you own a Ramsey, there's not much left to say . . . you just play it.

My Maple Special was built in 1999. I had the privilege of watching Mike put the finishing touches and adjustments on it in Appomattox. It was my first true clawhammer banjo, and -- God forbid -- if I ever had to get rid of banjo or two, it will be the last to go.

Again, welcome.

Ken

RD, I'm also relatively new to the Ramsey group and still a novice player, especially on trailing. After a bit of research I discovered your books/CD's are not available, at least on Amazon. Are you aware of any place I might purchase them, or do you have any?

Thanks for the welcome folks. Don't know why I never joined up before.

heroldra:
Thanks for asking. Both my "Cotton Blossom" and "Drop-Thumb" CD's with accompanying tab books are available at elderly.com
Drop-Thumb is the one with my Ramsey. Cotton Blossom was recorded exclusively with my Bowlin 1865 Fretless.

Well, as Castania wrote, there's not much action here, but the more the merrier. Welcome!

I love mine..Its a Dobson maple neck on a 12"woody maple pot and some Fairbanks Diamond inlays ... Its #1311 and the pictures are to the right . So much tone to play with .. I love it in the recording studio and on stage ... I took it on the Martha Stewart show in NYC so 10 Million Americans saw & heard the thing ..
