Let's See How Fast This One Goes

From davidwigal on 11/7/2014 10:21:29 AM

For the past year I have been periodically monitoring the classifieds here on the Hang-Out for Ramsey banjos; seeing how much they are selling for, the different models etc... One thing that I have noticed is that any particular ad does not stay up for very long; they all sell very quickly. Then it may be a week or two that there are no offerings, one or two ads come up and boom they are gone again. This really makes me happy because it is a great indicator that people recognize the quality of our instruments; also I know that my Ramsey's resale value is stable. Just some thoughts, have a great day friends :-)

I've noticed the same. Dealers often have a hard time keeping "extra" inventory above the special orders also. I know that selling my Maple Special would require the portent of great hardship.

I love my 12" Senator. Beutiful inlays, the neck is very fat a special irder. I get comments at BG jams about the sweet tone and how loud it is. I play it CH not 3 finger.
I got it in a trade for a 1975 Guild J 50 guitar. I miss that guitar but don't have any regrets abiut the trade.

I have an amazing Ramsey - Dobson neck (his signature curly maple)on what I am guessing is Mike's Woody 12"pot .. Its #1311 in the pictures to the right .. It is one of the easiest banjos I have ever played and its tone knocks the doors down at a jam .. I have been playing it with Nylgut strings lately .. MIke added some Boston diamond inlays so I have no idea what it would be worth if I ever let it go as it is a completely custom banjo.. I have used it on my last two CD's and cant imagine going into the recording studio without it .. My guess is it would be $2200.00 to have it made again today ay Mike's fair prices ..

Has anyone checked the BHO classifieds for Mike Ramsey banjos lately? Three newer offers and three "want to buy" ads; I think these banjos are getting more popular everyday! :-)
