pricing question on Ramsey internal resonator/ slotted head banjo

From atleson on 1/3/2018 1:22:00 PM

advancing age and reduced space means I have to part with some of my instruments, even though it's hard.  This one is a fairly rare Ramsey with an internal resonator and a slotted head.  I don't think Mike has made many internal resonators [like the old Bacon's].   The finish and the wood work is flawless.  It has only been very lightly played and is as close to mint as one can get.   Any idea what a fair price might be?

Prices for open back banjos have been all over the place in recent years. Prices at Bernunzio's bears this out. It all comes down to who wants the banjo. Collectors and speculators tend to drive prices of vintage banjos while players seem to focus on utility instruments. I would send some pictures to Elderly and Bernunzio's to get a sense of how they would price it if they took it on consignment. If you decide to sell it yourself, deduct the 25% commission they would take off the top and you've probably got a fair price. It may not be as high as you think, but at least you will sell it.

I may have just purchased this very banjo from Bernunzio's. All Mahogany 11" internal resonator with a slotted head stock. It is not in my hands yet, but i am excited. I have owned 3 other Ramsey models (all sold or traded)...I am crossing my finders that this very custom model wins me over! (thankfully i have 48 hours to decide)
