I'm new to this group because I'm new to owning a Ramsey! I have a Reiter Round Peak and an old Orpheum. But I've long loved the bassy, quick-decay sound of a Ramsey 12-inch pot. A BHO member was selling his Amish model and I'm now the happy owner. I love the volume and the tone. At any rate, have any in this group put a Dobson tone ring on this thin rim pot (probably a Keller drum shell)? I don't want to have to rout or rabbit the edge to do so, as the sound is really great as is. While a 12-inch, the Amish rim is actually closer to 11 and 7/8ths outer diameter. I'm wondering if a Rickard Dobson tone ring (which I think is right around 11 7/8ths) would slip right on. The Balsam Banjo Works Dobson ring is pretty much an actual 12 inches.
