The Rapture

From Geekmason on 5/21/2011 5:29:10 PM

Guys,

I hope everyone enjoyed their Rapture yesterday. I was rapturing some beers and enjoying a night off study in front of the box.

Currently, I am still gathering some training material and looking into the software. I did get Enda Scahill's tutoring book in the mail last week and I've given a quick flick through. It looks very instructive and should do me when when i do eventually get a Banjo. As for that, it looks like my plans are on hold for a little while, thanks to some dental bills coming and my Calais' door locks deciding to play up. But I'll have plenty of funds come mid year and it will also be better timing with all my uni study at the moment.

I've been frequenting King O'Malleys on most Sunday nights after dropping the wife off for work. The Irish session there consists of some dedicated folk players who bash out a very nice tune that accompanies a pint of Guinness very well :-)

Hope you're all keeping well as the winter gets colder :-)

@Geekm: How are the jam sessions down at King Omalley's? I plan on coming to one when i'm down in Canberra later on in the year.

I think they're great. It's made up of violins, a mandolin and those wee Irish drum things. They're music is so well played, that my phone (running the app 'SoundHound') can listen to and recognise the music and tell me the name and artists that have played it.

Well worth checking out. They play on Sunday and Tuesday nights, but i usually only go on Sunday nights. It depends on when my wife works.
