Apologies to the group

From Steelydan on 9/25/2013 11:19:21 AM

I've realized after several months that this group is Bluegrass Gospel. Upon looking at the Tablature, I realize now that Bluegrass is synonymous to Scruggs style 3-finger picking, and I've been posting mostly Clawhammer (Old Time) Gospel music. I'll continue to do so, unless there is objection to posting Clawhammer or Frailing tablatures to this group, since I include both links to music and lyrics (traditional), and the Clawhammer can be used to pick out the melody and one can improvise Scruggs 3-finger picking. Otherwise, I will form a group called "Old Time Gospel Lovers", and post there. Any interest in forming this new group? Any objections to posting here?

Thanks

Upon reflection, I formed a new group called "Clawhammer and Old Time Gospel Lovers" Group for my clawhammer tabs and links. I will continue to post Scruggs style Gospel in the Bluegrass Gospel Lovers group. Feel free to join this new group if you, as I did, fall in love with Clawhammer music, and yet continue to play both Scrugss and Clawhammer music. This new site will include Gospel and traditional Gospel Christmas songs (which will also be included in the Christmas Corner group).

No apologies necessary as far as I'm concerned Dan. I joined your new Group just now, but I like this Group too.

There's just no wrong way to post Gospel music. :-)

I think you were right in forming the other group as it gives people a more specific choice of what to occupy their time with.

I will have to agree with the previous two statements. I would like to say steelydan, that you have helped me before and I have seen you help others. I dont think it would be necessary to form another group but if you would like too, that is totally your decision. these are just my oponions. thank you again for the help you have given me

So is there a link to the new site? I would like to sign up.

Thanks all. If you like clawhammer, just join the new group (Clawhammer and Old Time Gospel Lovers), since there is where I will post future Clawhammer Gospel Tabs and links. So if you can't find it in the Bluegrass Gospel Lover's group, you can find the clawhammer version there.

To Paulbunyn: Just click on Groups and search for Clawhammer and Old Time Gospel Lovers Group. It's an open group.

Would be super interested in frailing tab's too because I do all three and clawhammer and frailing are my biggest things right now and Scruggs pick'in is in 3 place this past year . Looking forward to a lot of winter learning and big fan of ole brother where art thou songs but just have in chording form so chording and singing with fill's thrown in . Will try to find your group .

Frailing? Clawhammer? Drop-Thumb? These terms are all synonymous to me, I suppose, like Scruggs picking there are variations. I am not a true Clawhammer picker (holding the typical claw shape) and I suppose that suffers a little when it comes to playing, so I would say I have more of a modified Clawhammer/Frailing playing style. All the tabs I post are mostly in the frailing format, with a few melody notes thrown in. I am a huge fan of the drop-thumb Clawhammer, but I can't quite pull it off as well as others, but I'm getting better. Drop-thumb is more of single string playing, which is very melodic. So I suppose I'm more of a novice "Frail-hammerthumb" beginner player (old habits are hard to break).

I understand what you're saying Dan. Frail-hammer sounds like a good term!
