Bought new at Elderly's on 5/10/16. Comments I wrote after changing strings to Ome mediums:
I've been playing this banjo for a couple of days now and I'm very happy with it since making the string change. Changing the string had other benefits than just making it easier to play and sound better. It gave me the opportunity to feel how well the tuners worked, take a closer look at the no-knot tail piece, bridge, and overall construction of this banjo. I found the 4 planetary tuners and the geared 5th string tuner to work smoothly and accurately. The no-knot tail piece is nice, stable, and makes changing the string easier. The bridge is nice and the proper location can be easily achieved by viewing the pencil marks on the head from inside the banjo pot. The neck is well make and feels good while playing. Very nice fret and the inlay work was done. The star inlays are very nice and this model was only suppose to have a pearl star in the headstock, however, there is also one at the 5th fret. There is also an Ebony heal cap on this neck. The bone nut and pip are very nice. I think this neck is an upgrade and really make this banjo a Bart Reiter Standard Plus. The pot construction with the walnut bottom cap is nicely done. All of the hardware is thickly plated and very stable. Neck adjustment appears to be easily achieved however none is needed at this time the string height and action our very low and plays well with no buzzing. The fit and finish of this banjo are excellent and make it a joy to look at as well as play.
