How tighten the head on a Roundpeak

Not too long ago I purchased my first open back banjo -- a used Bart Reiter Roundpeak with a goat skin head. Lately, the third string and sometimes second string seem "loose" even though they are in tune. They buzz and just don't sound right. Is this more likely to be caused by old strings (the strings are only a couple of months old) or a loose head? If the head needs to be tightened, how do I do so on the open back Roundpeak? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

	jbalch says: 3/28/2016 4:42:51 PM Steve: If the head is too loose, the bridge might be sinking causing the strings to be low and buzz. If that is so, you might need to tighten it a little. I usually tighten each nut sequentially around the rim. Do so in very SMALL increments. Try to maintain even tension all around. On the other hand, If the strings just feel too loose, you might try a heavier gauge set next time.

bartmcneil says: 1/9/2017 6:51:16 AM Skin heads go limp in humid weather and get tight in dry weather. Adjusting the head tension is a way of life with skin head players. I often do it daily depending on the weather.
