I just picked up a Bart Reiter Round Peak (Great Sounding Banjo!!!) and would like to know what bridge(s) other Round Peak owners are using. It currently still has the stock (OEM) bridge installed.
Any advice and or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Mine had a grover compensated on it when I got it. I tried an Emerson power 2 (works well on my tradesman) and a few others in my collection and have ended up using a heavy moon. Would also be interested what others are using.

I switched from the stock bridge on my Regent (stew mac) to a Scorpion. These bridges are hand made by Silvio Ferretti who is a member here on BHO. On my banjo the Scorpion bridge provided a much richer tone and really cleaned up the overall sound. Crowe spacing 5/8. I purchased 2 of them through Elderly Music. John Balch did a review on these bridges in one of his posts that got me going with them. Good luck

I use Heavy Moon bridges on my other banjos so I could easily swap one to the Round Peak and try it out. . I haven't tried a Scorpion bridge but they sound interesting as well..

I like Tim Purcell's bridges on my Reiter Bacaphone, thanks to John Balch for recommending Tim. I recently put a locust bridge on and the difference was amazing. Tim is listed under the Hangout classifieds. He offers several different woods to select from.

The thing about bridges is that all are unique. Even two from the same maker will often sound different. I usually keep spares in various sizes so I can experiment when setting up a banjo. Personally, I use bridges by: Tim Purcell, Gary Sosebee and Silvio Ferretti. I have always been pleased with what those guys produce.

Thanks John. I had a bridge from Tim Purcell that was on my Reiter Special and it really "opened up" the sound of that banjo.. especially with one of your goatskin heads installed! From my limited experience, the quality of Tim's bridges seems to be first rate. The Round Peak is the 1st banjo with a 12" pot that I have owned and that is why I am wondering what other Round Peak owners use. I put on a Medium Moon today and am somewhat happy with it although it did take away a little bass but the 3rd string is much more clear and defined. I enjoy the swapping/tinkering process until I get the sound that is right for my ears anyways.

I've been enjoying an Snuffy Smith bridge I put on my Round Peak recently. Seemed to give it a more twangy ring than my medium Moon bridge.
