Nice - appears to be in excellent condition.

$2500 seems high based on past prices. But I seriously doubt you could have one like it built today for that cost. I hope they can get the asking price for it.

After I got my custom GC in 1994, you told me to keep it because you would not be making more of them. I'm very glad that I did.

I cant imagine what it would cost to commission a similar build by any of the custom makers operating today.

If I were still producing them the dealer cost would be about $1660 with shops selling them for $2500. But I have neglected my sources for the backs, that is the trick, having a CNC machine cut the F holes and also the flowerpots. A friend glued up and bound most of the pots. I hate doing binding and getting glue all over my hands. The engraving was a breeze.

So I guess John Bernunzio has it about right. I've seen them sell used for less ... but that was some time ago ... and they come up very infrequently now.

Now its on hold. These banjos never seem to stick around long. Price was a bit higher than lately on BHO, but may have also been negotiable. Probably reasonable considering the instrument, condition, and reputable retail setting.

Bart or John, would you remember (or estimate) the 1989 retail cost of my FF Pro with backstrap and heel cap inlay? Back then, at nine years young, i was saving my dollars for a skateboard.

Daniel: I don't know what that banjo would have sold for when new. But I think you are fortunate to have it. Like Bart told me, if you like it ... keep it ... because there aren't any more where that one came from.
