Picked up a used BR Standard Fretless.

Has a buzz at frets 1 thru 4 on the fourth (wound) string.

Sounds good at fifth fret and up.

I have changed bridges and doesn't help.

Any ideas?

	scthompson says: 7/11/2013 2:51:34 PM I just went through buzz issues myself. Have you checked neck inflection? If you want to read my long tale, hop over to the setup forum and look for "more buzz".
	scthompson says: 7/11/2013 2:54:51 PM Here's the thing (as it was explained to me). That is the fattest string. So, if the neck has straightened out over time (which is apparently a common thing if you live in changeable humidity), then when that string gets going on its harmonic wave, it will bump into the fret (esp. the 7th) and buzz. So, you put a capo where the first fret would be, and fret the 22nd, and try to slip a credit card under the string at the 7th. If you can't, take off the pot and turn the tension rod 1/6 counter-clockwise. That's why I did, and it worked.

	tombleu says: 7/12/2013 10:34:52 AM Ended up taking 1/2 turn counter clockwise on the truss rod to get the hump out of the fret side of neck. Problem solved. This banjo plays like butter:) Next, JBalch goatskin head.
