On Bart's website it says the Tubaphone necks are maple stained brown. I have seen several for sale that say the neck is Mahogany stained brown. I was wondering if someone could explain this. Were they made with both materials? How can you tell the difference? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks!

	jmoathout says: 3/21/2013 7:39:45 AM I have a Reiter Tubaphone which was described as having a mahogany neck. It' looks lust like my Galax with a mahogany neck. The pores in maple are, I believe, less open. I love the sound of the mahogany.
	jbalch says: 3/21/2013 8:38:07 AM I think maple may be "standard" on the tubaphone. That may be the way he currently produces them with the new Rickard rings. But Bart has assembled tubaphones in the past with mahogany necks. I don't know if these were custom - or just coincidence. Bart will change things up from time-to-time. I have two (2) Bacophone plus banjos one with maple - the other with mahogany. For what its worth, I prefer mahogany necks on tubaphones. The softer neck material seems to "warm" the tone a little. Mahogany neck and hide head makes a great sounding tubaphine (IMHO).
