A most improbable thing happened today. I traded for another Bart Reiter banjo. Folks who know me realize that is not improbable at all. But here is the unexpected part:

John Fabke (aka Supertone) expressed an interest in the Enoch Dobson banjo I recently found. I knew he had an old Reiter Grand Concert that might be available for a trade.

John came to see the Enoch and brought his Reiter today. To my great surprise this banjo is only one serial number away from my 1994 custom a-scale Grand Concert. This is #1143. My old banjo is #1144.

We had to make the trade - it just seemed like these two old sisters had found each other (and me).

John told me that the Grand Concert was originally purchased from Spruce Tree Music in Madison, WI by Tim Foss. It has been played hard and shows lots of good honest wear. It is in need of cleaning and a complete set-up. What fun! It I'll post photos as it comes along:

	jbalch says: 12/4/2012 7:12:46 PM Number 1143 is a full-scale banjo. My number 1144 is an A-scale. I remember when I ordered mine in 1993 that Bart was making his last batch of "true" A-scale banjos. I would guess that there are a few others in that serial number range.
