A few months ago I saw OCMS, and I had great seats, and I thought, "Wow, that banjo really looks like an internal resonator Reiter. I wonder if it's an old Vega?" Turns out, it IS a Reiter internal resonator.

	jbalch says: 11/13/2012 5:53:47 AM Most of them have a Bacon-style spun brass "donut" tone ring (like the originals). Bart sourced the rings from Stewart MacDonald. I have seen some very early Reiter Internal Resonator examples with just a brass hoop (but those are rare).

	jbalch says: 11/13/2012 6:20:12 AM Bart made two IR models: The "Professional" and the "Grand Concert" The only difference between them was inlay. These models were discontinued several years ago. But the descriptions remain on Bart's website: reiterbanjos.com/
	jbalch says: 11/13/2012 6:36:20 AM The Professional model has just a star inlaid in the peghead. The Grand Concert has a Bacon-style Flower Pot in the peghead and simple engraved inlay in the fingerboard. The rims and tone rings are the same the in both models. My personal Reiter IR banjos are custom instruments that don't conform to the exact specifications of the standard models. Other potential builders include Mike Ramsey (he has made a few) and David Ball bellsouthpwp2.net/t/h/theremin/ There are some other builders making block rim banjos with a flange on the back to resemble an internal resonator. I bet these are fine instruments - but it is not the same design as a traditional Bacon-style IR> I use Prucha Presto tailpieces on my Reiter banjos in place of the original Waverly or no-knot types. I just like the Presto better.
