Hello John,

I installed the skin head (really nice one too!).I did have to dampen it. everything is stabilized, got the minstrel strings in tune and I love the head! big improvement!

Thanks for everything, beautiful head quick, delivery and clear instructions and follow up.

Dumb question, but why did you have to dampen it? Do you refer to dampen it as in moisten it or as in mute it?

That particular hide was a little extra thick. I recommended that he might need to dampen (moisten) it a little to seat it on the rim properly. It should make a sturdy and great sounding fine head.

With the medium-thickness goat hides I use, it is normally not necessary to do that - in fact I usually recommend against it.

Thanks John. Very satisfied with my goatskin. Trying different things to make it sound a little more plunky (as plunky as you can get with a Whyte Ladie tone ring).

John,

Thank you for the stained goatskin head. Your work is top notch and I had no problems whatsoever installing it. Not to mention you are a remarkably kind human being. This hangout is a better place because of your presence and contributions. Thank you.

Haven't installed mine yet but it is a thing of beauty! And besides with the coffee staining I won't be afraid to pick up and drink from my coffee mug with the banjo in my lap.
