Hi folks,

I'm really enjoying my new Bart Reiter standard. One thing i've noticed though is that my hand doesn't quite slide as smoothly down the neck as on my John Hartford banjo. (I think the hartford is has some kind of coating that makes my hand slide over it very easily) It seems to 'stick'. This could be because it's brand new. Is it just a matter of playing it in or are there any tips you could give me?

	jbalch says: 3/29/2011 4:40:02 AM My 2006 Galax-plus had a matte finish on the neck when new. It looked a little dull and was not as smooth as the high-gloss finish on some of my others. But with just a few weeks of playing, it quickly very shiny and smooth. It is like glass now. You can buff it to speed the process if you want. I occasionally apply a carnuba wax guitar polish (Dunlop brand).
