From ancient tones on 4/16/2026 9:27:41 AM
I have this scruffy banjo on trial before I buy it and am curious what model it could be? It's a 2008, I believe.
First off, one strum with these tarnished strings sounded great. It's a mahogany neck, 1/2" rim looks like maple, ebony fretboard, heel cap, headstock overlay. I can't tell about the tone ring except it's a yellowish color. It seems loud however I don't have much experience to compare it to.
I don't mind the tarnished hardware and age. The fret wear is minimal. I plan to re-string it and check the head tightness.
Thanks for any input you may have. I'll probably keep it. I have to look at the neck carefully and check out the hardware. Images are in my profile. I'll try to post some here if I can.
