Anyone have an idea what a Harmony/Resotone/Sears long neck would be worth?

I have always wanted a long neck because Pete Seegar and Dave Guard played one. I found one and negotiating an offer and wanted to be fair. It is in playable condition.

Feel free to PM or post here if you have any info.

By the way did not know that there was a group here.

	wizofos says: 5/1/2015 10:54:14 AM Yesterday I picked up a Silvertone long neck for $50. It is pretty rough and someone put a screw in the neck for what appears to be a strap connection like Pete Seegar. It is playable but the silver 'plating' is flaking off in some places.
	giweb says: 7/18/2015 10:58:06 AM Sorry for late response. I have two of these long necks. The flaking silver plate is the worst feature! There are black Harmony NOS pots on eBay for about 30.00. I don't know how you would remove the plating. These are quite good for what they are and respond to the usual banjo tweaks. The individual covered tuners seem to be not lubricated and wear quickly. The two on one plate tuners on the 22 fret Harmony's don't have that problem. I have not seen one with any neck issue. There is a post somewhere on BHO that Pete Seeger picked one up and pronounced it decent. Most of these survived long lives in a case in a closet. Never seen a worn fingerboard and 000 steel wool makes the painted neck much smoother. You did well at the price you paid! There are always banjo players who want to try a long neck. One of mine came with a resonator and no flaking plating. Resonators are also on eBay from the same seller. Enjoy your long neck! giweb
byronmuseuminfo says: 8/18/2016 6:53:45 PM Three days of Coca-Cola soak encourages the chrome plating on the old hoop to flake off entirely without hurting the Bakelite underneath. Refresh the Coke each day. It bubbles up or flakes then when rinsed and dry you can pop off* the chrome, no need to scratch hard enough to mark the surface, which is a pretty nice black finish. Just wax and buff it. I suppose you could paint it but why? *The little hook wells are the hardest to clean up, but make it a hobby with a toothpick, cotton tip and toothbrush and in a week or so all thirty of them will be done ... you'll wish you had more to do, it's so comforting.
	wizofos says: 8/19/2016 7:04:41 AM It is strange all the uses for Coke. Cleaning rusted parts and tools, freeing frozen lug nuts, stripping chrome plating off of Bakelite. Who da thunk it, such a versatile product.
