Jes for fun ~

Here's a little video of my playing two songs on a four-string banjo. (My 1926 B&D #3.)

These are examples of the socially acceptable music of 1918, and that new hot jazz of the 1920's.

It's in a lost style that was popular for about a decade in the early 1900's. Note that the melody is achieved by voicing the full chord and melody note simultaneously, up and down the neck. I learned this 1920's style from an old-guy when I was a kid, and as an old-guy I'm passing it on. Bypassing musical theory, it utilizes the "wiggly-fingers-technique" that I favor.

The local newspaper came up to my place and shot this. They gave me one go at it and left. Boy, it was cold that day!
