Description
Geoff Stelling is regarded as having made some of the finest banjos in the history of Banjo Production. He has recently retired which means that not only will there be no more Stelling Banjos, those that exist have gotten hard to find and very desirable. This is a clean and all original example of his Whitestar Banjo which delivers the tone and playing experience that so many have grown to love.
This has a maple neck and resonator with an ebonall fretboard that has snowflake inlay. The hardware is nickel and all original except a Kershner Tailpiece. This includes a one piece Stelling Ribbon Flange and a Stelling No Hole Tone Ring. This is a basic example of a Stelling Banjo but includes the components that produce that loud pop and bang Stelling Banjos are associated with. The One Piece Flange and No Hole Ring are critical.
This includes the original Stelling Hardshell Case.
Condition and Set Up
This banjo is absolutely gorgeous and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse. The hardware has been disassembled and polished and has a really nice shine. The finish is in fantastic shape and has been waxed to a shine. This banjo basically looks new.
The frets and fretboard are basically perfect and there are spikes at frets 7, 9 and 10.
The case has some wear on the outside but is structurally in great shape and the inside is clean.
This is set up with a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and this banjo is a stellar player. This has a lot of bang, volume and pop and is set up to play like butter.
