This is a collaboration between me (Mark Hickler) and my cousin, Dave Gill.
Basically a Hickler rim with an Asian neck commissioned and designed by Dave Gill.
Vietnamese necks are incredibly beautiful and detailed with carved heels and more, but are they reliable? This neck has been stable for four years in Arizona. Therefore a stable as any neck I have ever made. Plus I will stand behind this product.
It is not selling for full price because this is prototype. I had to extend the lower heel with a permanent shim (pictured) and there is a shim between the fingerboard and the tension hoop.
We are going for a powerful tone in researching the internal resonator rims. This banjo has a more sweet and compressed tone. It would be great to accompany singing.
Inlay on 9th rather than 10th fret.
Specifications:
11" rim, with internal resonator
Rim is wenge and curlymaple
26.25" scale, 22 frets
Siver Bell tonering
Frosted head
24 - J.B. Schall style shoes
