I have a nice, lightweight Gibson RB-100 for sale.
This would be a great choice for someone who doesn't want the hassle of dragging a full-weight tone ringed banjo around everywhere - or if you are so led, you can modify the rim and put a standard tone ring in it.
The simple tone hoop design also cuts down a LOT on shoulder/back strain.
Will come shipped VERY sturdily, with a Road Runner hardshell case and an extra set of strings.
The banjo IS currently strung up with a mahogany bridge, and sounds fantastic. It's got more of an archtop snap to it, which I like better than the flathead sound.
I don't have a video up yet, but will be able to send a sound clip to interested parties.
The original "friction-type" or "semi-planetary" tuners were replaced with real Gotoh planetaries.
I believe that a previous owner either blacked out or completely removed the Gibson logo on the headstock.
However, the rim number corresponds to a 1954 RB-100 with brass hoop and dots in the fingerboard.
The rim is a good old standard 3-ply brown maple rim, unlike the thinner rims of late '60s-'70s Gibsons.
I have no reason to believe that the neck is not original to the banjo.
There was a repair done at the fifth string peg hole. The current fifth string peg is not original.
