Have two of these (in separate listings), a very nice vintage banjo rim purchased from famed West Coast banjo luthier Larry Brown in 2000. Larry probably told me who the maker was, but twenty years has dimmed my memory and I don't remember anymore. I'd guess the rim dates to the late 40's or 50's. Rim is turned for a flange and tone ring with skirt, measures 5/8" thick at top, and 1/2" at the bottom. Measures 10 3/4" in diameter at top, and 10 9/16" at the bottom. Bracket band starts 1" up from bottom, is 11/16" thick, and the top for the tone ring measures 3/8" deep. Has holes drilled for dual coordinator rods, rim shows *very slight" storage wear, and no signs of ever having a neck of tailpiece attached to it. I think it is dark stained maple but unsure of what the wood actually is. 13 plies thick at the top, and the bracket band portion has a dark tortoise shell pearloid veneer glued to it. Solid rim for a cool custom build.
