This is a great sounding pre war banjo. I purchased this banjo from the estate of the late Dub Crouch, well known 1st generation St. Louis bluegrass pioneer, banjo player, and collector. The banjo is just as I purchased it except for a bridge change and the truss rod cover. The original neck was not with it, however, it was in a plectrum or 5-string case, which is in poor condition. A Saga case is included with the sale.
The banjo has a reproduction Flying Eagle pattern mahogany neck, maker unknown. I believe this to be an older reproduction due to the small frets and 1/8" rosewood fretboard.
This banjo has definitely seen some use but is a fine unmolested example of the period. Joe Spann lists this serial batch as TB3 and PB3.
