1960 Gibson RB-100 Bowtie Banjo with D-tuners and Lifton case in excellent shape! Made by Gibson in Kalamazoo. Serial number 0-4895-19.
The mahogany neck and orginal resonator are lovely. The flamed maple resonator back just shines as do its mahogany sides.
The rosewood fingerboard is in excellent shape and there is very little fretwear on this classic. The Earl Scruggs-style Pittman Cam D-Tuners are in great shape and work perfectly.
All hardware is original with a couple of exceptions: the 5th string tuner is a Waverly Planetary 5th String Tuner and the one piece flange is a Prucha nickel plated pre-war Mastertone replica. The D-tuners reflect the vintage of the instrument but whether they were installed when orginally purchased 60+ years ago, who knows?
The rim is maple and a brass hoop tonering is set on the inside of the rim to provide an archtop. The tone ring is visible through the head. The head is a Remo Renaissance with semi-smooth opaque honey color.
The bridge is a new Huber bridge.
The banjo has been all set-up. The head has been tuned (drum dialed in at 90) and action has been set at 1/16" at the 12th fret. It plays beautifully!
Overall, the banjo is in great shape! Not surprising, given its 60+ years, there are some finish dings here and there. This includes some nicks on the peghead, a small scrape on the neck near the heel, and and some scratches on the edge of the resonator.
Comes in its orginal Lifton hardshell case. The case has hot pink lining (very 1950's Gibson) and all latches and hinges are secure. The exterior of the case is worn and there are some stickers in on the case exterior as well.
